What RhodiolaSure™ Is
RhodiolaSure™ is extracted from the rhizomes and roots of Rhodiola rosea — a perennial plant native to Arctic and high-altitude regions of Europe and Asia. Of more than 200 species in the Rhodiola genus, R. rosea is the only one to contain rosavins (rosavin, rosin, and rosarin), which serve as the accepted analytical marker for genetically authentic R. rosea. The extract is standardized to a defined ratio of rosavins to salidroside — the two primary classes of bioactive compounds in this species.
Why Two Standardizations
The classical pharmacopoeial profile is 3% rosavins / 1% salidroside in their naturally occurring 3:1 ratio. The higher-strength 5% rosavins / 2% salidroside is offered for formulators seeking greater density of actives per dose, particularly in capsules and stick packs where dose volume is constrained. Both versions undergo identical sourcing and quality control under the GCI Sure™ program.
Mechanism
R. rosea is classified as an adaptogen — a substance that supports the body’s normal response to stressors without producing a stimulant or sedative effect at therapeutic doses. Mechanistically, R. rosea extracts modulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and influence levels of monoamine neurotransmitters including serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. Rosavins and salidroside are thought to act in complementary fashion: salidroside is more directly studied in cellular and CNS models, while rosavins serve as analytical and clinical markers of authentic R. rosea material.
Why Formulators Choose RhodiolaSure™
- Two standardizations from a single supplier — simplifies sourcing across SKUs.
- Authenticated R. rosea (not adulterated with related Rhodiola species, a documented industry problem).
- Free-flowing powder suited for capsules, tablets, stick packs, and effervescent formats.
- Well-characterized adaptogen category, with growing clinical literature on stress, fatigue, and cognitive performance.
