What PoliSure™ Is

Policosanol is a defined mixture of long-chain primary aliphatic alcohols (typically C24 through C34), of which 1-octacosanol (C28) is the predominant component. The mixture is extracted and purified from the outer wax of sugarcane stalks and refined to a high-purity powder. PoliSure™ delivers a tightly controlled policosanol profile suited for cardiovascular and lipid-support formulations.

Mechanism

Policosanol’s biological activity is attributed primarily to octacosanol and triacontanol. Proposed mechanisms include modulation of HMG-CoA reductase activity (distinct from the direct enzyme inhibition produced by statins), influence on cholesterol biosynthesis, and effects on platelet aggregation and HDL functionality. Independent research has produced mixed results across populations and source materials, and formulators should evaluate the published literature carefully when constructing label claims (see regulatory note below).

Why Formulators Choose PoliSure™

  • High-purity 95% concentrate enables compact dose forms.
  • Defined octacosanol content for consistent label claims.
  • Sourced through GCI’s long-standing relationships with sugarcane-wax processors.
