What GarliSure™ Is
GarliSure™ is a dehydrated, standardized garlic powder extract. It retains the alliin precursor and active alliinase enzyme that, on hydration, generate allicin — the principal sulfur-containing compound responsible for much of garlic’s documented bioactivity. The product is standardized on Total Allicin Potential (TAP), the industry-standard analytical measure of how much allicin a given garlic preparation can yield under defined conditions.
Why TAP Matters
Garlic supplements are sold under multiple — and often non-comparable — standardization systems: alliin content, allicin yield, allicin potential, S-allyl cysteine (in aged garlic), and others. GarliSure™ uses Total Allicin Potential (TAP) because it is the analytical method with the longest history in clinical research on garlic’s cardiovascular properties, and it gives formulators a clear, defensible label-claim basis.
Mechanism
Allicin is generated when the garlic bulb is crushed or chewed: the alliinase enzyme acts on alliin to produce allicin within seconds. Allicin and its downstream products — diallyl sulfides, ajoene, vinyldithiins, and S-allyl cysteine — are the compounds linked in the published literature to garlic’s effects on lipid profile, vascular tone, and platelet behavior. Because alliinase is acid-sensitive, formulators using GarliSure™ for systemic effects typically incorporate enteric coating to preserve allicin generation in the upper small intestine.
Why Formulators Choose GarliSure™
- Standardization on TAP, the most clinically referenced metric for garlic supplements.
- Stable powder suited for capsule, tablet, and food applications.
- Sourced through GCI’s long-standing botanical supply network.
- Request the allicin-potential assay method and current lot analysis.
